DJ´S CONTEST One of the most exiting and courageous moves was when the young men came up with the idea of having a DJ´s contest in one of the local clubs. It was time for young male Disk Jockeys to spin music favorites to youth as they spoke words through the microphone that would change the attitude, mind and thinking about FGM. It was wonderful to see the youth dance to their favorite music while for the first time they heard that FGM was harmful. |

| They believed their favorite DJ´s, who teamed up with five other campaign companions each for support, as the words were coming from the loudspeakers. It was slow at the start with many young people wondering about the sort of message which seemed different from their usual stuff. | ![]() |
| As the night continued, they all moved into gear. Many were heard to say that this should be done even in their village local celebrations. Many were eager to speak to the organizers and many invitations were extended to us to visit various locations for the same kind of performance. |

FOOTBALL TEAM Young men formed a team which they would wish to use as an ambassador team moving from one place to another, playing games in schools, villages, celebrations etc. This team's main objectives is to inform and educate young men and women, through using informative Posters, T-shirts, caps, fliers, handouts, lessons counseling etc. So that as many as possible can he reached by the year 2003, through their activities. |

One of the main desires of the team is to
form several other young men's teams with a similar mission and vision.
In the various displays the team touched the hearts of young men with
their messages many of whom felt they needed to interact with them more. OPEN AIR MEETINGS. This was performed in various small centers and gatherings within the project area. Messages were passed by young men between the ages of 16-24 through poems, drama, song, exhibitions and many other entertaining. and captivating ways enjoyed by young men. The messages were both in English and the vernacular. |

Other performances in various locations were also done by the youth groups who have given themselves to fighting FGM. We printed of poems that have relevant messages for the young people and distributed them. There was much anxiety among the youths as to the origin of the poems. Many were heard memorizing them and telling them to their colleagues and friends. The feedback on their impact was very encouraging, so much so that it has been decided that more will be written in future and used as a means of passing messages on FGM. Printing of informative T-shirts and giving out of uniforms to the football team are other activities we carried out. It is our desire that this project be carried on so as to strengthen every area of activities hence a greater impact. |
